AFC Wimbledon fans blamed for Milton Keynes stadium damage

AFC Wimbledon fans have been accused of damaging toilet facilities and stadium seats during last week’s historic match in Milton Keynes.
Fourteen supporters’ coaches travelled from south-west London to Buckinghamshire on Sunday December 2, to see the Dons play for the first time against MK Dons, formerly known as Wimbledon FC.
An MK Dons spokeswoman refused to specify what damage had been caused by supporters and insisted they did not want the incident to be made public until it was reported by a local newspaper.
She said the club was getting an estimate and had notified the Football Association, who may decide both clubs should share the cost of repairs.
In a statement, the club said: “Unfortunately a small minority of away fans caused some damage to the supporters’ seating, toilet and refreshment facilities in the North Stand at stadiummk.
“While we are extremely disappointed with the damage caused, it should not deflect from the thousands of football fans who behaved impeccably and enjoyed the newest rivalry in football in good spirit.”
The club has also told Thames Valley police about the damage, but police refused to confirm if they were investigating the incident.
AFC Wimbledon declined to comment.
