Hampton & Richmond boss Mark Harper said the remainder of the season is all about consolidation and preparation for next year.

After Tuesday night’s 1-1 draw at home to Concord Rangers – where Charlie Moone’s second-half spotkick levelled a first-half Rangers penalty – the Beavers lie in the middle of the Ryman Premier League with little left to play for.

Harper said: “At about this time of the season, clubs have to decide whether they throw money at the team and go for a final push, or consolidate and look forward to next year, and we come in the latter camp.

“A lot of managers are in the same position and life has been finanically very tough.

“I have been a manager for only a couple of years, but I have been surprised at how much of my time is spent on non-football things.

“But I am sure I will be here next year, and I am working on keeping the team together until the end of the season and then throughout the summer.”

The Beavers go to promotion- chasing Lowestoft on Saturday, followed by a trip to Bognor Regis on Tuesday night.
