Brentford boss Uwe Rosler is ready for his players to break through the pain barrier in order to reach the Championship.

Rosler also praised his young charges for completing the job in hand on Wednesday night when he sent them out at Crewe Alexandra with a simple warning ringing in their ears – we need a win.

Goals from Bradley Wright-Phillips and Marcello Trotta ensured Rosler’s wishes were met with the goals in a 2-0 win, and makes sure the Bees’ automatic promotion hopes remain in their own hands.

Rosler said: “I have been consistently impressed with how the team has improved and progressed from the start of the season.

“Some may be young but they are professionals and are turning in truly professional performances.

“After the results on Tuesday night, I told them we needed to win against Crewe and they went out there and got the job done. They were superb from the first whistle.”

Rosler will be without some names this weekend, but the manager is keeping his cards close to his chest ahead of the visit of Portsmouth.

He said: “Some of the guys are struggling with knocks, but we shall have to see how they come through Friday.

“But whatever happens, we get on with it. Some clubs moan about the number of games they are playing, but we’re different. We just get on with it, keep on going and will push through the pain barrier to get promotion.”

Rosler added: “Portsmouth will be tough, but I am sure with the Griffin Park crowd behind us and our record at home, we can win.”
