AFC Wimbledon midfielder Sammy Moore described the drama of super Saturday as the “best feeling ever”.

Moore’s free-kick was headed home by Alexander to open the scoring in the second half, something he will be celebrating for some time.

The 25-year-old said: “It is unbelievable, it is up there with one of the best days of my career – it is the best feeling ever.

“I am sure we will be celebrating for the next couple of days and hopefully we will not be in this situation next season.”

With the game stuck at a 0-0 deadlock at half-time, it was a nervous dressing room, but Moore, who has made 97 appearances for Dons since signing in 2010, hailed the calming effect of boss Neal Ardley.

He said: “Neal said we just had to keep going, keep creating the chances. If we stick to our game plan – make sure we do the set pieces right – we’ll get the goals we need.

“When we got the first it was unbelievable – but they literally went up the other end and scored.

“It was a gut-wrenching feeling and we thought ‘Oh no, not this’. “And then we got the penalty and Jack’s done really well to step up and roll it in.

“To be fair to Jack, he’s great from the spot and he was always going to score. I had no doubt.”

After recovering from being mobbed at the final whistle, Moore praised the enthusiasm and never-faltering and loud support of the Dons faithful.

He said: “The fans have been fantastic ever since I came here three years ago and they were fantastic this season.

“Home and away, they sing their hearts out and I thought they were the 12th man out there – in fact, even when results were not going our way, they never gave up and that really helped.

“If we did not have them sticking by our side, I don’t think we would have got the result, so that is one for them as well as us players.”
