Brentford boss Uwe Rosler has reacted angrily to claims the club had made an approach for Swindon Town keeper Wes Foderingham.

The Bees sold first choice stopper Simon Moore to Premier League side Cardiff City, and Rosler believes that allowed other clubs to take advantage.

Rosler maintains David Button, 24, who signed from Charlton Athletic on a two-year deal in time to make his debut against Cardiff on Tuesday night, was their only target.

Managerless Swindon were reported to have snubbed a “tentative approach” and suggested an offer in the region of £400,000 was possible for the 22-year-old former Crystal Palace man.

However Rosler said: “It’s very strange some clubs are using Brentford for the wrong reasons and trying create a momentum around their players.

"We have never spoken to any other goalkeeper, never enquired about any other goalkeeper, haven’t made a bid or financial suggestions to any other goalkeeper.

“The only person we spoke to was David, and that went smooth and quick.

"Other clubs and other local newspapers writing to create a momentum around their assets is definitely a lie.”

The reaction comes after reports on thisisswindontownfc.com in connection with the Swindon Advertiser.

Foderingham was in goal for the Robins in last season’s play off semi final thriller at Griffin Park that saw Rosler’s men victorious after a 3-3 draw and a penalty shoot-out.
