Brentford 1 Walsall 0
Clayton Donaldson gave Brentford a narrow 1-0 win over Walsall at a drenched Griffin Park on Saturday.
The Bees were forced into an early re-organisation when they lost young on loan striker Conor McAleny to a nasty looking leg injury after only five minutes.
Neither side created any clear openings until midway though the half, when Walsall broke down the left and Craig Westcarr shot wide of the left hand post from just outside the box.
At the other end Adam Forshaw came very close to scoring when his shot hit the crossbar.
Clayton Donaldson score the decisive goal just three before the break when Shaleum Logan's cross was headed downwards and past Richard O'Donnell by the striker.
During the second half Farid El Alagui almost scored when he burst onto Scott Barron's pass, but saw his shot blocked.
Donaldson did well when he broke through the middle and after exchanging passes with Forshaw, his clever back-heel was saved by O'Donnell.
While at the other end David Button ensured his side took all three points when he got his body in the way of a close range shot from Westcarr.
