Harlequins centre George Lowe has signed an extension to his contract, which will keep him at the Stoop until the end of the 2015/16 season.

Lowe has made more than 100 appearances for Quins, having made his debut in September 2009 against London Wasps.

The 23-year-old came through the Harlequins academy and graduated into the senior squad in 2008, and has since scored 24 tries.

In his second full season for the club, he was shortlisted for the Land Rover discovery of the aeason award, and in 2011/12 he played an important part in Harlequins' success in lifting the Aviva Premiership.

Lowe has also turned out for the England U20s during the Six Nations and Junior World Championships, and was called up for England's 2012 tour to South Africa where he started against the Southern Barbarians.

He said: "As soon as I was offered a new contract at Harlequins I knew I was going to stay. I have grown up at this club and know all the players and coaching staff really well, so it was a very easy decision to make.

"It's always an honour to wear the Harlequins shirt and I'm looking forward to achieving more with this group of players over the coming seasons.”

Harlequins director of rugby Conor O'Shea said: "People will probably ask to check his birth certificate when they hear that George is still only 23 and has already played more than 100 times for the club.

"He has incredible experience for someone of his age and in that respect he is now maturing as a player.

"This experience, coupled with George's physical capabilities, should see him move his game on to another level in the coming years."

He added: "It is really exciting for everyone here at Harlequins knowing what he can achieve, and that he wants to commit to doing it here with this club is a great thing.”
