Latest news out of Croydon Harriers: May the fourth be with the men at Priory Park

Croydon Harriers’ men enjoyed their best finish at the Priory Park cross-country relays on Saturday finishing just off the podium in fourth.
David White kicked off the 4x2.5 mile race for the Harriers, and led at the first leg changeover thanks to a run of 13 minutes 56 seconds, the fourth fastest time of the afternoon.
Simon Loughran (15:26, 23rd), Alex Penfold (15:28, 26th) and Patrick Lucas (15:47, 36th) all battled well to see the team home in one hour, 37 seconds, just under a minute adrift of the top three clubs of Guildford & Godalming, Medway & Maidstone and Dartford.
The B team of Kennedy Mogere (73rd, 17:00), Andy Del Nevo (97th, 17:38), Neil Aikman (95th, 17:36) and David Chambers (60th, 16:36) finished in the middle of the pack in 19th, and the C team were 34th, with 41 clubs in all completing the field -164 runners competed overall.
In the opening Downs League encounter, Kieron Connor won the U15 boys' race over the two-mile course.
He was well supported by Omar Harhara who came home third. Abbie Burrett and Josie Kavanagh completed the scoring quartet with the team finishing third.
In the other age groups, Theo Flanagan finished eighth in the U11 boys' category and Faith Chen was fourth in the equivalent girl’s race. In the U13s, Jordan O’Dongo (eighth) and Isaac Flanagan (ninth) both made the top 10.
This weekend, sees the men’s squad tackle the second fixture in the 2XU Surrey cross-country league at Wimbledon Common.
They currently lead the overall standings narrowly from Wimbledon Windmilers.
