Rosler hails Bees' lone ranger Grigg

Brentford boss Uwe Rosler reckons striker Will Grigg is back in a good place after a stop-start opening to his Griffin Park career.

The 22-year-old scored his secodn goal in a week as he scored his side's only goal in a 1-0 win at Notts County on Saturday to extend the club's unbeaten run to nine matches.

Grigg was eventually credited with his side's 81st minute equaliser in Tuesday's 3-2 triumph over Peterborough United with the goal having originally been given to George Saville after his header hit a post and appeared to cross the line.

But anaylsis of the match video by Brentford coaching staff and photographic evidence established he had forced the ball over the line from close range and the former Walsall striker was given the goal on Thursday.

International call-ups and niggling injuries have hindered Grigg thus far since scoring a brace in a 3-1 win over Sheffield United on his home debut.

But Rosler believes his display on Saturday is a sure sign he is finding the form that persuaded him to bring the frontman to west London.

"It is hard to play up front alone. He had very good movement. He stood to 90 minutes at a high tempo, had one or two chances and his overall game was very good," said the manager.

"Will is back on track in terms of confidence.

"He looked very good when he came on for the Carlisle game and I think he looked very good on Tuesday.

"His movement is sharp and he looked in a good place. I'm very pleased with his overall performance.

Brentford have kept six cleansheets in their past nine games - a run that has featured eight wins - with full back Alan McCormack playing an influential role in that statistic.

However, the Irishman was replaced by Shaleum Logan wioth 15 minutes remaining on Saturday amid concerns over a rib injury.

"Alan [McCormack] might have an x-ray," added Rosler.

"Afterwards I found out that Macca had a problem and we'll check out his ribs.”
