Hercules Wimbledon Athletic Club youngster Oscar White will make his debut running in Surrey colours in two weeks, and his preparations could not be going any better.

White, who has shown a dramatic improvement under the supervision of coach Mark Livingstone, was the runaway winner in the Hercules’ U13s inter-club match on Wimbledon Common on Saturday.

The 12-year-old clocked 15 minutes 32 seconds over the 2.5m course, beating club-mates Alex Abraham (17:03), pictured centre, and Daniel Illis (17:18), pictured right.

White, pictured left, makes his county debut in the South of England inter-counties cross-country championships at Biggleswade on December 14.

He is one of three Hercules runners selected to compete for the county.

Marathon running mum Claire Grima competes in the senior women’s championship, while Cassian Hyde runs in the men’s U17s event.

In the inter-club men’s race over five miles, Hercules Kieran White led the way home in 27:28, beating Herne Hill’s Chris Buseileh by 22 seconds.

Hercules filled seven of the top eight places to easily take the team honours.

Alex Bellew was third in 28:00, Jonathan Cornish fourth in 28:54, Phil Glynn fifth in 29:47, George Longworth sixth in 30:19, teenager Matt Gibbons seventh in 30:36 and marathon runner Sean Crummy eighth in 31:25.

The fastest woman finisher was Hercules’s Yacine Randijou, who was 20th in 34:02.
