Beddington boxer Sunny Edwards overcame injury to defend his NABC title last week.

The 17-year-old beat Scott Rankin on points in the U48kg category on Friday to claim his fourth consecutive English title.

He said: “I was relieved more than anything as I knew I had what it takes to beat my opponent.

“But I was carrying an injury of a broken nose, which gave me something to be concerned about before and during the fight.”

He added: “I was a lot more apprehensive, but I boxed well and didn’t get caught with any shots.”

Three out of the four judges awarded Edwards, who trains out of Repton, the win.
