Quins' Hopper not distracted by England announcements
Matt Hopper is not sweating on receiving an international call because earning his Quins spurs has been tough enough.
The 28-year-old has been in impressive form for his club this term and a shortage of fit English-qualified centres means a call from head coach Stuart Lancaster is not beyond the realms of possibility.
The England senior and Saxons squads will be unveiled at Twickenham stadium this afternoon ahead of the forthcoming Six Nations, with Quins stars Chris Robshaw, Joe Marler, Danny Care and Mike Brown all expected to feature.
Director of rugby Conor O’Shea made no secret of his admiration for former Cornish Pirate Hopper - paying tribute to his no nonsense physical approach that has caught the eye this season.
But the man himself, an England Saxon in 2012, is not thinking of anything other than Saturday’s Heineken Cup visit of Clermont Auvergne.
“It has been hard enough to secure my position at Quins with all the quality players here let along think about England,” he said.
“It is nice to be mentioned by other people in those terms, but all I can think about is the next game for Quins.”
