Belgrave Harriers Dwain Chambers opened up his 2014 indoor season finishing second in 60m at Glasgow International Match on Saturday.

The 35-year-old clocked 6.61secs while his domestic rival James Dasaolu of Croydon Harriers won with a world leading 6.50m.

Chambers will next compete in British Indoor Championships on the weekend of February 8 and 9 at English Institute of Sport, Sheffield.

Also in Glasgow, fellow Belgrave club-mate William Sharman also had to settle for second best in his opening 60m hurdles race of the season.

He was closely beaten to the line by American Jeff Porter by 0.01 of a second (7.66secs)

Sharman said: “I had a good start but then I hit a couple of hurdles and was knocked off balance. But I’m glad to have the first race out of the way and done.

“This season I’m hoping for lots of jewellery, that’s why I compete.”
