Met Police defender Ricardo Joseph would back any move his club made towards an artificial pitch, but admitted it would not be everyone’s cup of tea.

Joseph played on Maidstone United’s 3G pitch during last month’s 1-1 draw at The Gallagher stadium.

And while he enjoyed his trip to Kent, the same cannot be said for many of his team-mates, who revel in playing on some of the Ryman Premier League’s best kept surfaces at Imber Court.

He said: “I quite enjoyed playing on the surface, but it did hurt a lot of the other players’ knees and some thought the ground was a lot harder than grass.

“I’d say it is pretty similar, but sometimes the ball doesn’t bounce properly and if you slide on the ground it can leave a big mark on your leg.

“I would support a move to play on a 3G pitch, but it’s not my choice and a lot of other players wouldn’t be happy either.”
