Hercules Wimbledon athletes enjoyed mixed fortunes in the Surrey Indoor Championships at the David Weir Leisure Centre on Sunday.

Teenager Theo Etienne was pipped on the line in the U20 60m final and had to settle for the silver medal in 6.85secs, the same time as the winner.

He won his first round heat in 6.94secs, and was the fastest of the five qualifiers in winning his semi-final in 6.86secs.

Fresh from his lifetime best in the British Athletics Indoor Championships at Sheffield the previous weekend, Max Mondelli withdrew from the event as a precautionary measure after suffering a slight muscle twinge in winning his heat in 6.95secs, the third fastest time of the 10 semi-final qualifiers.

In the senior 60m, Joseph Chukwuadinula was disqualified for a false start in his semi-final after finishing second in his heat in 7.06secs.

Emily Martin took the silver medal in the senior women's long jump with 5.58m, while David Odumeru won bronze in the boys U13 60m in a personal best of 8.60secs in his first athletics competition. Earlier he was second in his heat in 8.80secs.
