Maisie Minors was the toast of St George’s College as she fired the school’s U14 girls hockey team to the National Schools Hockey Championship title last week.
Minors struck the only goal in a 1-0 final triumph over Millfield School at Cannock Hockey Club on Thursday after her side had earlier topped their pool with seven points from three games.
Head of girls games Aimee Byrne said: “This was the best the girls have played this season. For the first time everything just clicked.”
Kingston Grammar School’s U18 girls fell at the final hurdle as they finished as runners-up.
Kingston, coached by former GB international Calum Giles, beat Bromsgrove, Coopers Coburn and Millfield Schools to top their pool and reach last Wednesday’s final.
But they could not stop Repton School from claiming an eighth national crown in 10 seasons as they ran out 4-0 winners.
