Whyteleafe's up and coming master of the motor, Charlie Robertson, underlined his status as one of the UK’s best young racing drivers at the opening weekend of the Michelin Ginetta GT4 SuperCup.

Driving on the Brands Hatch Indy circuit, the 17-year-old debutant won the second of three races to end the day in second place overall - having finished third in race one and 11th in race three.

Robertson, backed by Investigo and racing with HHC Motorsport, said: “I’ve been a little bit surprised with how competitive and quick we have been on our first weekend in the championship.

“The team is new to the GT4 SuperCup, like me, and we’re still learning about the car so what we’ve achieved this weekend is really encouraging. I’m so happy to have won a race on the first weekend, it’s a fantastic start.”

He added: “Finishing on the podium in the first race is what I really wanted to do. Qualifying was good, our pace was good, but unfortunately the component failure led to the session ending early for me.

"To come through from fifth to third in my first race in a Ginetta G55 was a good result.”
