Captain Chris Robshaw is hoping he misses the England plane bound for New Zealand, because it will mean Harlequins will have reached the Premiership final.

Quins, who have now won their past four league games, pipped Exeter 30-29 in a thriller at Sandy Park on Sunday to set up a winner takes all clash with Bath for a top-four finish.

A semi-final success will see them return to the showpiece final at Twickenham for the first time since lifting the title in 2012.

That match is just seven days before England’s first Test clash with the All Blacks at Eden Park on June 7, with jet lag protocols and a lack of preparation time ruling out those players involved in the Premiership final.

But, despite relishing the opportunity to line up against the world champions in their own back yard, Robshaw knows where he would rather be.

“I’ve never played against New Zealand on their own patch and we all know what a challenge it will be,” he said.

“That is what it is all about though – testing yourself against the best in the world.

“We might be missing a few boys, but we go there with confidence because we have been playing well.

“We can learn from past experiences, but before that is the end of the season with Quins and that is all I’m thinking about.”
