Leatherhead Cricket Club lost their first ever game in the Premier Division of the Surrey Championship, but skipper Matt Joblin could not be feeling any more positive.
After being set 195 to win at Reigate Priory, Leatherhead fell 57 runs short on 137 all out – Joe Peak top scoring on 37.
Joblin said: “Despite losing, the attitude in the dressing room afterwards was very positive.
“I was really pleased with our performance and Reigate did not offer anything we did not expect.”
He added: “The only difference between the teams was Reigate’s lower order that included Neil Saker and Simon King – these are former contracted players and we’re not used to coming up against that kind of quality in the lower order.
“But we were really pleased to get the game on after all the talking and we’re looking forward to Spencer coming to us this weekend.”
