A rainy weekend did little to dampen spirits as Carshalton Athletic began preparing for life in Ryman League Division One South.

Volunteers gave up their time to descend on Colston Avenue and spruce up the Robins nest after a long season that ended the disappointment of relegation.

Co-ordinator and stalwart Robins fan Peter Lebihan said: “It is good to take stock after each season. We had an overwhelming response and sadly couldn't not accommodate everyone, but it shows how well thought of the club is.

“We were especially grateful to those with particular skills, woodwork and the like, who came down and did some of the more demanding tasks.”

Lebihan would like to see the home of the Robins become one of the Division One South’s main attractions next season.

“We'd all like our ground to become a fortress and that starts with its appearance,” he added.

“I want opposing clubs to turn up and be intimidated from the moment they step off their coach. It was sad to get relegated but we’ve won this league in the past so I’m looking forward to it all kicking off again.”

Carshalton Athletic have revealed the visit of Leatherhead for a pre-season friendly on July 26.
