Worcester Park CC captain Joe Hill wants to forget about last weekend’s humiliating 144-run defeat at home to Ashtead as quickly as humanly possible.

Having been put into bat, Ashtead carded 211 in the Division Two fixture, featuring a knock of 80 from Surrey CCC opener Dom Sibley.

In reply, Park were skittled for just 67, with Ashtead’s Jonno Sole starring with the ball taking 5-37.

Park skipper Hill is hoping for a reaction next weekend at Chipstead, and will be boosted by the arrival of their overseas player Brenton Deysel who arrives from South Africa this week.

Disappointed with his side’s batting performance, Hill, pictured right, said: “We just want to forget about it and move on.

“We face Chipstead next, so that won’t be easy but it couldn’t get much worse.”

He added: “This is a tight league, everyone can beat everyone and if we get a couple of wins together hopefully we can get back up the top of the table.”

The skipper put the defeat down to an off day and admitted that after a good bowling performance, his side’s batting ultimately lost them the match.

“We thought we did well to keep Ashtead to 211, but then we didn’t get through the new ball.

“We played a lot of bad shots, and it was that, but also some tight bowling.”
