Hercules Wimbledon's Tom Cheetham finally broke the three-hour barrier in his 52nd marathon.

Cheetham, who has contested the London marathon more than a dozen times, clocked two hours 59 minutes 39 seconds in finishing fifth out of more than 300 runners in the Thames Meander event at Kingston on Saturday.

Cheetham was second in the over 45 category. and his time improved on his previous best of 3:01:26 set in the London marathon in 2013.

Another Hercules Wimbledon marathon runner, Claire Grima, set a club veteran women's over 35 5km record when she won the women's race on her debut appearance in the River Valley Park, Exeter, 5km parkrun on Saturday in 18:10.

She was fifth overall out of 139 finishers with husband David, also competing in the event for the first time, just ahead finishing third in 17:33.

Another Hercules Wimbledon parkrun winner was Hannah Bye who equalled her best time for the distance of 20:59 on her debut appearance in the Southwark Park event where she as the top woman finisher in 15th place.

Top Hercules Wimbledon finisher was Daniel Bratton who also making his first appearance in the Southwark Park event where he was seventh out of 102 runners in 19:14.

Elsewhere, Amelia Casey, at 13 one of the youngest runners in the event, was second in the women's event in Old Deer Park in 22:16, James Moorcroft was third out of 337 runners in the Greenham Common parkrun in 17:44 while over 40 veteran Peter Collins was the best of 10 Hercules Wimbledon runners in the Wimbledon Common parkrun in 17:43, just six seconds slower than his best time.

Charles Hampden-Smith was fourth over 50 veteran in 19:26. Alexander Gee was runner-up in the junior 2km parkrun in Wimbledon Park on Sunday in a personal best of 8:44 with sisters Sophie and Charlotte Crump fourth and fifth inn 9:08 and 9:12.

This weekend, Hercules Wimbledon's youngsters are competing in the Lily B Girls League final at Ewell Court on Saturday.
