Surbiton race ace has one hand on the Michelin Clio Cup Race Series Championship, but knows the smallest mistake could cost him.
The 31-year-old Total Control Racing driver claimed his sixth and seventh wins of the 2014 seaswn at Snetterton at the weekend to pen up a 52 point gap between him and closest rival David Dickenson at the top of the drivers standings.
Robinson qualified in pole position and led from lights-to-flag in both races to claim maximum points, but it could have been different.
“I think we’ve got more than a 50 point cushion now, so that’s really nice to go into the last round with a lead like that – that was the aim”, he said after winning race two on Sunday.
“As ever, it was crucial to get the start and getting clean away.
“I did make a small mistake at the second corner in race two and thought I might have blown it, but, thankfully, I managed to hold on.”
North Yorkshire circuit Croft hosts the final rounds on September 20 & 21.
