Sutton United boss Paul Doswell has made his first signing of the summer, but he needs fans’ help to bring in more talent ahead of the new National League season.

Bradley Hudson-Odoi put pen to paper on a one-year deal last week, making the switch from Wealdstone.

The 27-year-old winger hit 15 goals in 31 National League South appearances last season, and Doswell see him as the perfect competition for Ross Stearn and Tom Bolarinwa.

He said: “I knew about Bradley years ago, he had a fantastic season at Wealdstone and he fits the type of player we’re looking for, someone who is still hungry and wants to improve and do well.

“He’s at an age where he understands what he is good at and what he is not so good at. In footballing terms, he has four or five years left comfortably.”

Doswell was able to bring in Hudson-Odoi with funds raised by the club’s “Boost the Budget” campaign.

The scheme gives fans the chance to buy two shares in the club at £10 per month for 10 months.

All the money raised, so far standing at around £12,000, will go into the player budget made available to Doswell, and the target has been set at £40,000.

If they meet the target, and with the Strikers are Key initiative, fans will have added 15 per cent to the player budget, which is essential for Doswell’s recruitment hopes.

“I have spoken to another centre forward and he is prepared to wait, and I have also spoken to another defender/midfielder who could cover five slots,” Doswell said.

“Most of the budget has gone on improving our current squad’s position, which I feel is the right thing to do.

“At the moment we’re not in a position to spend any more than we have already spent.”
