Brentford’s Andy Scott has warned his squad against complacency having started 2009 among the League Two promotion chasers thanks to an unbeaten run in December.

The Griffin Park chief is among the front runners to land the manager of the month award for a productive Christmas period harvested 10 points from four games.

His side’s festive form also sees midfielder Marcus Bean - who bagged a brace in the 2-0 Boxing Day win over Bournemouth - in the running for the player of the month award with the Bees sitting second in the table.

Brentford travel to Lincoln City at the weekend and Scott insists Brentford must stretch their four match unbeaten run into the new year at Sincil Bank.

“It is a tough trip. They have made two good signings in strikers Geoff Horsfield and Anthony Elding, and will be looking to gather some momentum to get up towards the play-offs,” he said.

“We are half way through the season and are on course for where we want to be.

“Everything is going according to plan so far, but we don’t want to get complacent having made a good start.”
