Terry Brown has urged AFC Wimbledon to make the most of a massive weekend of Blue Square Premier football as the Dons look to strengthen their promotion credentials.

Wimbledon welcome York City to Kingsmeadow, while Crawley entertain Wrexham and Luton host Fleetwood Town as four of the top five lock horns.

And boss Brown has eyes on a definitive Saturday of action.

He said: “We are in a good position anyway but by Saturday night we could be in a brilliant situation.

“If we can get a positive result against York we can then watch the other results and see our placing improve.

“We have had our difficult month with so many games in such a short period of time so it is nice to see the pressure on the other sides for the change.

“Both Crawley and Luton have cup games coming up as well and if we can look after ourselves and keep getting the wins the onus is on them to not slip up.”

The Dons helped their cause by squeezing out a 1-0 win over Fleetwood Town at Kingsmeadow last weekend, Christian Jolley’s late goal deciding a scrappy affair.

But all Brown cared about was the three points.

He added: “It was an awful performance and not a great game, but it was a massive win.

“We are playing a lot of the teams around us at the moment and it is essential to not get beaten, and for us to take four points off Fleetwood gives us a massive boost.”

Revenge will be on the menu this Saturday as Wimbledon host York, still smarting from the 4-1 reverse at Bootham Crescent just last week.

Brown added: “We have players here who were spanked at York last season, and again this season and we need to put that right.

“I am expecting a lot more energy from the side as we have taken things a lot easier this week and given the players a rest.

“I did not castigate the players when we lost up there but I am certainly not anticipating going through that again.”
