Terry Brown has begun AFC Wimbledon's preparations for League Two by signing Rushden & Diamonds midfielder Max Porter.
The 23-year-old has still to complete a medical but has agreed to move to Kingsmeadow from Nene Park, where he was out of contract this summer.
Porter has Football League experience having made 56 appearances for Barnet in two seasons before joining Diamonds in 2009.
"I am delighted to have signed Max," said Brown, who jetting off to Las Vegas this morning to join the rest of the Dons squad as they celebrate promotion.
"We know a lot about him as we have been watching him for some time and nearly signed him a couple of years ago.
"He is an England C international and captain who has also played more than 50 games in the Football League with Barnet.
"He will bring a bit of bite into midfield where we are now very strong, with lots of competition for places."
