Quins skipper Chris Robshaw has warned the rest of the Premiership his men are flexing their muscles for a title challenge.

Director of rugby Conor O’Shea’s side came from behind to snatch a 17-15 win at Worcester Warriors on Saturday without ever reaching their best form.

Quins needed a lung-busting late penalty try to stretch their winning start to the campaign to four games having been 15-3 adrift deep in the second period.

The Stoop outfit top the early season top-flight table and will be more than a handful when their rivals begin to return to full-strength post-World Cup.

And Robshaw reckoned their current form will make them the team to beat this season.

“Great teams and winning teams, even if they are not playing great, will find a way to grind out the wins and that is what we did at Worcester,” he said.

“For 60 minutes we were very much second best and that win was a huge step in the right direction because it is the sort of game we would have lost last year.”

Sam Smith’s spectacular second half try – named Premiership score of the week – paved the way for the fight back.

But it was the Quins front row, who waded through 43 set scrummages at Sixways, who dug deepest to force the winning score.

“When you consider the amount of scrummages there were in the game, for the front five to win us the game like that was a massive effort,” added Robshaw.

Quins host Sale Sharks – and old boys Aston Croall and Charlie Aymesbury – on Saturday and the captain knows his men must improve.

“It has been a bit of a down week for us because we know we didn’t play particularly well at the weekend,” he said.

“They have only lost one game out of their four so far, so we are well aware of the challenge.”

O’Shea added: “Sale are playing with a huge amount of ambition. They are usually cracking games and with the weather set fair – maybe too fair for the big guys – I expect nothing less this time.”
