Harlequins skipper Chris Robshaw will have to wait until the start of Six Nations to see if he can add the England captaincy to his growing list of honours.

The 25-year-old was named in acting head coach Stuart Lancaster's first elite player squad of his reign on today, along with fellow Quins full back Mike Brown, prop Joe Marler and centre Jordan Turner-Hall.

George Robson, Joe Gray, Chris Brooker, Karl Dickson and Ugo Monye have been rewarded for their part in Harlequins' rise to the top of the Premiership this term with spots in the second-string Saxons set-up - making it a record nine Quins players to be selected in the 64-man pool.

Robshaw is widely thought to be vying with Northampton's Tom Wood for the England captaincy, but Lancaster will not make a decision until closer to the opening Six Nations clash with Scotland on February 4 at Murrayfield.

Number eight Nick Easter, 33, is the major casualty of the shake-up, which sees him dropped from both the senior and Saxon squads.

Turner-Hall, recently back from injury, gets the recall having represented England in a non-capped clash with the Barbarians in 2009 and believes he is ready to take his chance.

“Quins have had a fantastic season so far. I love being a part of the club and, having come up through the academy, I have a lot to thank the coaches and players for," he said.

“I was fortunate enough to have played for England against the Barbarians, but although I enjoyed the experience, I don’t think I was truly ready.

"I feel I am now, and am looking forward to being a part of this exciting squad and working towards my first cap.”
