With all AFC Wimbledon's January transfer window talk having surrounded the arrival of veteran Jason Euell, the name on the lips of Dons fans is suddenly a teenager dragged down from the North East.

Sunderland loanee Billy Knott has already captured the hearts of Wimbledon supporters and on Tuesday he was the catalyst behind the club's first home win since October 1.

The livewire midfielder scored a spectacular equaliser as he dazzled the Kingsmeadow crowd before Sammy Moore scored the winner two minutes time.

But despite it being the Dons third come-from-behind victory in a row - following the dramatic 4-3 win at Gillingham on Saturday secured by Luke Moore, an own goal and a late double from Jack Midson - manager Terry Brown still let rip at his players.

“I am annoyed with our second-half performance," he said.

"We have come out in the first half and we've taken the game to them and we've produced the type of performance I want.

"As far as I'm concerned it should have been more of the same in the second half, but it wasn't.

“I was really disappointed with my back four as they didn't work hard enough.

"I felt sorry for Seb Brown as he's been caught in no-man's land.

"I have been quite blunt with them – it was not good enough, they were lazy and they played without the courage I demand from them.

“We didn't play well in the second-half but the one bit of real quality came from Billy, who scored a goal out of nothing. He was outstanding.

“Sammy scored the winner for us and he's been great.

"I have a problem now because he's our best holding midfield player by a country mile but I need him further up the park as he can score goals.”

Brown is looking to sign two more players before the transfer window closes on Tuesday night with Bognor Regis Town striker Jason Prior closing in on a switch to the League Two club.

It will be big coup if the Dons do capture the in-demand forward who scored 38 goals in Ryman Division One South last season and already has 28 this - prompting a trial at Premier League Newcastle United earlier this month.

Having dominated the first half on Tuesday, the Dons found themselves behind early in the second when Callum McNaughton was beaten in the air by Shaun Bisley and Dwayne Mattice scored from close range.

But 19-year-old Knott unleashed a brilliant left-foot drive into the top corner to level matters two minutes later before substitutes Christian Jolley and Brendan Kiernan set up Sammy Moore for the winner.
