Woodford Green with Essex Ladies hurdler Tiffany Porter misses out on London 2012 Olympic final

Tiffany Porter fell just short of a place in the Olympic 100m hurdles final tonight.

The Woodford Green with Essex Ladies competitor ran in heat two of the semi finals and although she missed out on an automatic qualifying place, her fourth position kept her in contention to progress.

She clocked 12.79 during the race which meant she actually ran faster than second placed Beate Schrott of Austria from heat one.

However, while Porter’s time was quick, those in heat three proved even quicker.

The two fastest losers places went to America’s Lolo Jones (12.71) and Phylicia George (12.65) of Canada.

In the final, Sally Pearson of Australia took the gold medal in a new Olympic record time of 12.35, while American duo Dawn Harper (12.37) and Kellie Wells (12.48) both ran personal bests to claim silver and bronze.
