Eighth-placed finish at Surrey Road Relays for the Harriers

At the Surrey Road Relays in Wimbledon, Croydon Harriers' masters teams enjoyed two top-eight finishes in the M40 and M50 categories.

The quartet of Andy Del Nevo (17 minutes 41 seconds), Martin Rowe (18:51), Neil Aikman (17:46) and Alan Burn (18:01) finished seventh in the 4x3-mile M40 race.

Their M50 colleagues matched that feat with Colin Oxlade (18:32), Julian Dillow (19:44), Keith Brown (20:36) and Norman Hemming (22:19) completing the team.

At the Sparrows Den cross-country relays, four youngsters teams warmed up for this weekend’s South of England road relays, with some solid performances.

The U15 boys' trio of Omar Harhara (12:25), Robert Cleghorn (12:42) and Kieron Connor (13:52) finished fourth overall in the 3x3km race.

Their female counterparts also finished fourth, with Josie Kavanagh (15:02), Naomi Carty (14:42) and Emily Howe (14:31) providing a consistent pace throughout.

The U13 girls took second thanks to the efforts of Abbie Burrett (14:32), debutante Saarah Nawaz (17:37) and Ellie McCormack (15:53).

A non-scoring mixed team of Jordan Walters (14:17), Connor (13:17) and Harhara (12:56) finished eighth out of the 19 teams.

In the four x 4km adults' relay, Croydon finished 31st out of the 41 competing teams, with a squad comprising solely of U17s, including Stevie Lawrence (16:45) who ran the fifth fastest women’s time of the afternoon.

Lawrence (16:45), Laurence Johnstone (16:15), Atlanta Drummond (21:36) and Luke Baker (17:22) completed the squad. Lawrence’s leg was the fifth fastest women’s time of the afternoon.

In the U11s, brothers Aaron (ninth, 6:40) and Caleb Drummond (11th, 6:42) kept the Croydon flag flying out of the 14 finishers.
