Hercules Wimbledon's women produced a better overall result in the second of this season's Surrey ladies League meetings, finishing seventh of the 15th Division One teams.

They were led in by Amy Aronson and Claire Grima, who were 24th and 25th in 25 minutes, 46 minutes and 25.48, with Francesca Clarke taking 50th place in 27.34, Chloe Hawkins 55th in 28.02 and Alison Purnell 58th in 28.14.

Some of Hercules Wimbledon's youngsters also did well in the Nonsuch Park meeting - Zoe Illis led the club to third place in the women's u17 event finishing fifth out of 49 runners in 19.43, with Maire Gilmartin 13th in 20.46. Emma Klugman was eighth in the U13 race in 12.50.

Elsewhere, Hercules Wimbledon's Neil Fraser, who is currently based in China, received a late invitation to run in the Shanghai Marathon on Sunday - only a week after running the Beijing Marathon. He took up the invitation and completed the course in 3:06, a little faster than he managed in Beijing.

Two Hercules Wimbledon athletes were in action for the Roehampton University team in the London Colleges League 4.2-mile cross-country race in Alexandra Park, north London.

Jonathan Cornish was 15th out of more than 100 runners in 25.24, and Chris Donnellan 49th in 28.38.

Tom Cheetham was Hercules Wimbledon's sole representative in the Kingston 10km road race on Sunday where he was 28th out of 450 runners in 39.45. He was the top veteran over-45 finisher.

Pat Wright was runner-up in the Pirie 10-mile cross-country race at Coulsdon in 57.16 - more than 100 runners took part.

This weekend, on Saturday, Hercules Wimbledon are staging an inter-club five-mile cross-country match on Wimbledon Common which also includes the club's five miles championship for the Borough News Cup. The race starts from near the Thatched Cottage at 2pm.
