Tadworth AC’s cross-country runners took part in the South of the Thames 7.5 Mile Championships at Richmond Park on Saturday.
The club’s men finished 10th in the six-to-score team event thanks in part to good runs from Pat Wright, in 44 minutes, 35 seconds; Paul O’Callaghan, in 45:10, and Dave Williamson, in 48:06.
The club also sent a team to join 184 other runners for the last event in the Ronhill Surrey Classic 10K race series at Horton Country Park on Sunday.
Alan Matthews was the first club man home, 60th in 45:39, with Nanda Todd the leading lady, 88th in 50:08. Roland Hogg, 86th in 49:53, completed all three races and was placed 37th overall.
Heather Fenton, 97th in 51:13, was 49th overall, and won the women’s over-55 prize.
Tadworth AC’s veteran cross-country runner Geoff Newton was 31st in Sunday’s Holly Run at Reigate Priory Park, completing the challenging six-mile men’s race in 45:05.
