Croydon Harriers James Dasaolu opened up his 2015 indoor account with a terrific 6.52 seconds in the men’s 60m final at PSD Bank meeting in Germany last week.

But the 27-year-old European 100m champion was pipped to the line in Düsseldorf by veteran Saint Kitts & Nevis sprint star Kim Collins, who also registered the same time.

American Mike Rodgers, who also beat Dasaolu into second place in the qualifying heats, came third with 6.58 seconds.

Dasaolu, who will be focusing more on the outdoor season, was delighted with his openers, sayinh: “It was a close race, it was my first outing of the season, but it’s a decent opener.

“I’m not really taking indoors too seriously, I’m just going to do one or two races.

“My soul goal aim is for the outdoor season just to see how things have been going and just break up training a bit.

“But I’m just happy just to be competing and I enjoy competing, its lovely.”

Dasaolu will next race at the Indoor Grand Prix meeting on February 21 at Barclaycard Arena in Birmingham.
