Croydon Harriers brought home four medals at the South of England U17/15 indoor championships at Lee Valley last weekend.

Marcia Sey enjoyed a double gold in the U15 sprint events first winning the 60m title in 7.82 seconds before doubling her tally of wins in the 60m hurdles triumphing in 8.83secs.

Both performances rank her number one in the UK for her age group this year, although it is still early days in the indoor season.

Training partner Rhiannon Gayle won silver in the U5 girls 200m in 25.74secs, and Kayla Bowley won bronze in the same race in 26.04secs.

Bowley would also finish fourth in the 60m hurdles, and her male counterpart Ezra Rodrigues matched that feat in the boy’s event in 8.60secs.

Elsewhere, more than 30 Croydon Harriers competed at the Surrey cross-country championships at Denbies Vineyard in Dorking.

The men’s team enjoyed their best team finish in the competition since 2004, placing seventh out of the 18 clubs who closed in.

Sussex University student Ben Savill led home the Harriers finishing 16th in a stellar field of 231 finishers over the 7.5 mile course in 45 minutes 30 seconds.

Loughborough student Dom Nolan (19th, 46:14) and debutant Chris Williams (32nd, 47:33) provided excellent support.

The remainder of the scoring six was completed by Mark Lynch (72nd, 50:57), who had finished first at Lloyd parkrun 24 hours earlier, Colin Oxlade (115th, 54:15) and James Moore (139th, 56:22).

In the junior women’s race, St Mary’s student Stevie Lawrence put herself in contention for county selection finishing sixth.

Emily Howe (10th) and Anna Corby (12th) completed the scoring trio, with the squad finishing sixth overall in a competition jointly scored with the U17 women’s section.

Jessica Moore scooped the highest individual finish in the young athlete’s ranks finishing 17th in the U15 girls race.

Kyra Sethna-McIntosh (32th) and Imran Salim (63rd) were the club’s highest finishers in the U13 girls and boys ranks while Dane Lawrence was 34th in the U17 men’s race.

The U15 boys finished ninth thanks to Isaac Flanagan (36th), Jordan O’Dongo (44th), Adam Shew (60th) and Jonathon Long (67th).
