After the relief of storming to a first ever victory in the Premier Division, Leatherhead skipper Matt Joblin has his sights set on nothing else but enjoying his cricket.

Shaun Udal top scored with 43 as Leatherhead racked up 197 all out after Banstead put their neighbours into bat.

Banstead’s Aman Shinwari took 5-44 as Leatherhead fell one delivery short of completing their 50 overs.

Shinwari would go on to top score for the hosts (26), but Banstead were skittled for just 92 with Marcus Dawes starring in the bowling attack taking 4-4 off his 2.1 overs.

Leatherhead’s historical win was their first in four attempts this season.

Joblin said: “It’s great to get a win under our belts.

“It was frustrating to wait for four games but it was a very good performance and I’m proud that the club got its first ever win in the Premier Division.

“We’ve been slowly improving all season and we are learning and progressing.

“Hopefully we can get another couple of wins under our belt.”

He added: “We are a better side than one fighting against relegation, but we haven’t set ourselves any specific aims.

“We just want to win and do it by being positive, working hard and having fun while we play cricket.”
