Dulwich Hamlet boss Gavin Rose says he will not look at the Ryman League Division South table until April at the earliest.

Whether he knows it or not, his charges sit pretty at the top going into this weekend’s clash against Corinthian Casuals at Champion Hill.

Meanwhile, Casuals are struggling at the wrong end of the table – just three points below Tooting & Mitcham, who held Hamlet to a 2-2 draw on New Year’s Day.

Rose said: “I don’t look at the league table and I won’t for some time to come. I keep getting reminded where we and everyone else are in the league, but I would never know unless anyone told me.

“I was told Tooting were somewhere below mid-table. It did not make any difference to me because I knew they would be stiff opposition because of the players they have, and that is all that matters.

“I know Casuals are down there but they also have good players and a good management team, so we don’t under-estimate them in the same we don’t under-estimate anyone in this league.”

He added: “Casuals have already beaten us once this season and they always seem to do well against us, so there is no reason why we should have a divine right to beat them.”

The single point against Tooting kicked off a busy month for Hamlet, which consists of seven league games – including clashes against title favourites Maidstone and three other teams in the top six – and two cup outings.

The hectic schedule puts more pressure on Rose’s small squad, but he hopes Peter Adeyni and Frankie Sawyer will return from injury within two weeks.
