Ryman Division One South leaders Walton Casuals were held 1-1 by second-placed Crawley Down Gatwick in the FA Trophy prelminary round on Saturday.
Jamal Okai gave the Stags the perfect start by scoring from close range after just eight minutes, but Crawley levelled through a Lee Carey penalty 16 minutes later.
The match marked the return of Connor French, who came on as a second half substitute, and while he tipped the balance in his side's favour in the final 15 minutes boss Mark Hams' men could not force the win.
Casuals travel to Crawley on Tuesday for a replay with AFC Sudbury awaiting the winners in the next round.
