JONNY Williams admitted there were enough reasons to stay positive after Saturday’s game with Norwich, despite it being the Eagles tenth league loss of the season.

Gary Hooper’s 30th minute goal was the difference between the two sides at Carrow Road as the former Celtic striker tapped into an empty net after good play from Nathan Redmond.

But the returning Welsh international felt his side could have earned all three points had the Eagles taken their chances.

“I think we were a bit unlucky today,” said Williams.

“It is the first game under a new manager and a new system and we have only had a week to really prepare.

“I think we have to take the positives. We have been in every day this week, and most players understand that because it gives us the best chance we can.

“We have done everything we could this week and there are definitely positives to take.”

Despite a sluggish start, Palace grew in confidence as the game progressed and almost nicked a point when Barry Bannan’s shot was headed onto the bar by Norwich defender Martin Olsson.

Williams added: “It could have gone either way but that's football.

“They have had a decent chance and they have taken it where as we have had a couple of chances and we haven’t.

“We have had a few games this season where we have played well and haven’t really taken the points because we haven’t taken the chances.

“That is the difference between taking points and losing but now we just have to move on. That’s something that we are definitely going to look to turn around.”

Palace’s travelling fans were yet again in fall voice throughout the 90 minutes with chants for the Welsh maestro to come off the bench right at the top of their playlist.

They got their wish with just over 15 minutes left as Williams made his return from an ankle injury, replacing Bannan.

Williams picked up the injury while on international duty earlier this season with the Welsh squad and the highly-rated youngster admitted he was glad to be back.

“It’s the first time I have played in about three months,” said Williams.

“So I really appreciate the opportunity to come back into the squad and show the manager what I can do.

“He's shown faith in me today when we are 1-0 down and I appreciate that so hopefully I can repay him.

“I want to play as many games as I can and try and keep Crystal Palace in the Premier League.”
