Kingstonian boss Alan Dowson celebrated being crowned Ryman Premier League manager of the month for a second time this season with cup glory at Sutton United on Tuesday.

Midfielder Josh Casey scored the only goal of the game as they beat their fierce Skrill South rivals 1-0 at Gander Green Lane.

But the Kingsmeadow chief insisted the win was merely an appetiser to the main course of league clashes with Cray Wanderers on Saturday and Wealdstone on Monday.

“It goes without saying that we are delighted to get through because it keeps our little run going,” he said.

“But if you asked me to swap this for a couple of league wins this week, I’d snap your hand off.

“That is the most important thing for me.

“Wealdstone are the best team I have seen in the Ryman Premier in the past three seasons.

“I watched them last week.  I think they will win the league, because they are an outstanding team.”

And Dowson, who is confident Andre McCollin and Charlie Knight will be fit for the weekend, was  encouraged by the form of goalscorer Casey and 19-year-old midfield partner Daniel Sweeney.

“Josh has been outstanding for us. He  played his first game against Lowestoft Town and has kicked on from there,” he added.

“You have to remember Daniel is only 19. He has had to wait for his chance and he has taken it.”
