Rivalries will be set aside as Crystal Palace and Brighton fans go head to head for charity next month.

Supporters from both clubs are taking part in the 13th annual Robert Eaton Memorial Fund match on May 2 at the Dripping Pan stadium in Lewes.

Former Palace heroes Simon Osborn and Robert Quinn will be donning the famous red and blue once again to help the Eagles beat the Seagulls.

Palace’s Crystal Girls cheerleaders will also be there as will the club’s mascots Pete and Alice the Eagles.

Brighton currently lead 8-4 in the series and Palace fans will be desperate to reduce the deficit this year.

The REMF fund was set up after Brighton fan Robert Eaton was killed in the 9/11 attacks in New York City in 2001.

More than £100,000 has been raised for disadvantaged children in America, Sussex, Croydon and Africa.

Five Year Plan fanzine editor Jim Daly is organising the Palace team this year and is desperate for an Eagles win.

He said: “We have lost the last two years to slender score lines so it is time to bring the trophy back to South London.

“Obviously, it is a brilliant cause, which helps underprivileged kids in Sussex, Croydon and America and it’s great to be able to help out each year, but I’d be lying if I said the result didn’t matter.

"We're delighted Simon and Robert are giving up their time to help us out too in the true spirit of charity and what the night is all about.”

The game is on May 2 at 7.45pm. Entry is £5 for adults, U16s £2 or get in free if accompanied by an adult.
