Joe Ledley is loving life at Crystal Palace, especially when he gets to play in central midfield.
The Welshman joined the Eagles in January and has been a vital part of Palace ensuring Premier League survival for the first time in their history.
Speaking after Palace were beaten 2-0 at home to Manchester City, thanks to goals from Edin Dzeko and Yaya Toure, Ledley said he is enjoying his time in south London.
“I’m loving it here. My family and I have settled in really well and it is obviously good that it’s going well on the pitch as well," he said.
“My aim was to come here, play well and help the team stay up and we have done it.
“With the games we have had and the teams we have played I don’t think we expected to be on that five game winning run.
“We’ve had to beat fantastic teams like Chelsea, Villa and Everton.”
Ledley, who has played in a number of position under Tony Pulis, admitted that Palace were below par against City but said he enjoyed playing in a more central role.
“We didn’t really play that well in the first half but after that we recovered really well and started to play some good football,” he added.
“But it just didn’t happen - we were playing against a world class team and when you go 1-0 down it was always going to be tough to come back.
“I don’t mind where I play as long as I am near the midfield but it was good to play in the centre today.
“I thought I did okay at time so hopefully I can build on that.”
Palace’s next game is at Selhurst Park against Liverpool on Monday 5 and Ledley says he is expecting another stern test.
“Liverpool come here knowing they have to win and it is going to be really difficult for them and obviously for ourselves as well,” he said.
“We will need to defend a bit better as a unit and hopefully we can get a result.”
