Joe Ledley admits working under Tony Pulis at Crystal Palace has more than made up for the disappointment of finally calling time on his Celtic career.
The midfielder was signed by Pulis from the Hoops in January on a three-and-a-half-year deal, ending a hugely successful four-year spell at Parkhead.
Ledley acknowledged it was a wrench to quit the Hoops, but has enjoyed playing for fellow Welshman Pulis so far and thinks the Palace boss is right in the mix for the manager of the year award after keeping the Eagles up with something to spare.
The 27-year-old said: “I think he has got to be up there with the points and everything since he has taken over.
“It's not just been against the bottom half teams, it’s been the big teams like Chelsea and Liverpool.
“I had a couple of opportunities to work for him before and I'm happy to work under him.
“It was very difficult to leave Celtic but I’ve loved every minute.
“To come here and be in a good place with a good manager, it makes everything easier and that's what he’s done.
“He spurs belief in me and it's worked out.”
Ledley has been ever-present in the Palace line-up under Pulis and has scored two goals for the Eagles against West Brom and Cardiff.
But the Welshman is keen to press on in the Premier League next season.
“I'm happy with my performance,” he said.
“I've got two goals but I want to be greedy and try and get more.
“I'm happy with the way I’ve played and, not just myself, but working with the team as well.”
Ledley also believes Crystal Palace should offer a new deal to Julian Speroni with the keeper’s contract set to expire.
The Argentine stopper has been a key factor in the Eagles’ excellent form, but his stay in SE25 could come to an end unless he is offered a new deal.
Speroni has been at Selhurst since 2004 and turns 35 on May 18, but Ledley feels he remains a top-level operator.
“Hopefully he gets a new deal,” said the midfielder.
“It's not down to me but it's down to the people at Palace to sit down with him and agree something.”
