Hampton Richmond Borough joint boss Darren Powell is confident the Beavers will enlarge their squad by the weekend.

The former Brentford defender confirmed talks are on-going with two players the management team believe can really improve respources at their disposal before the club's pre-season return in a fortnight's time.

The 38-year-old centre back refused to name names, but insisted he and Paul Barry were close to tying up deals for the pair within the next couple of days.

“We're seeing if we can bring one or two in by the end of the week," said Powell.

“Of course we can't say who quite yet, but both are really keen to join so we will see where we are in a couple of days.”

Hampton have already secured the signatures of Max Hustwick, Michael Bryan, Jesse Kewley-Graham and winger Jerome Federico this summer.

And Powell is delighted with the business that has been done thus far.

“It's been a good summer for us so far,” he added.

“The players we have managed to sign come from good stock, professional backgrounds and they will give us more pace throughout the team.

“We will look to be more creative, so myself and Paul are pleased so far. With a bit of luck we may be a bit closer to where we need to be.”
