Ks striker Andre McCollin has told striker partner Nathaniel Pinney he will not be getting any more charitable donations from him this season.

Pinney slammed home the 92nd minute penalty that secured a 2-1 win at Leatherhead on Wednesday night after McCollin passed up the opportunity to bag his second goal of the night.

It was the former Crystal Palace youngster’s first league strike for the club since arriving at Kingsmeadow in the summer.

And McCollin hopes getting that monkey off his back will see Pinney go from strength to strength for Kingstonian this season.

“We left it a bit late. We should have been home and hosed long before then, but we missed a few chances and I missed a few to be fair,” he said.

“It was actually our best performance of the season so far. We moved the ball well, played the ball in the right areas and the longer we play together the better we are going to get.

“I left the penalty to Nathaniel because I know what it is like for a striker if you haven’t scored for a new club.

“I knew he was not going to miss, so I was not too worried. Hopefully, now he has got one he’ll just carry on scoring for us.

“But I have already told him that is the last one he’ll have off me though.”

The result keeps Ks up with early season pacesetters Maidstone United at the top of the Ryman Premier League and followed up the 1-0 revenge win over AFC Hornchurch to put Ks fourth in the table.

Midfielder Tommy Kavanagh scored for the second successive match at the weekend.

And McCollin admitted his goals could be key.

“Kavs is in a better place mentally having come back from Dulwich Hamlet,” he added.

“It is important we score goals from everywhere on the pitch and, hopefully, he can keep contributing.”

Ks travel to Bognor Regis Town tomorrow and host bottom-club VCD Athletic on Monday.
