Crystal Palace striker Fraizer Campbell is hoping the fringe players get their chance tonight against Newcastle United in the third round of the Capital One Cup.

Palace remain unbeaten in all competitions since beating Walsall in the second round of the competition last month - featuring a hat-trick from striker Dwight Gayle.

That run includes a 3-3 Premier League draw at St James Park, which also marked Neil Warnock’s first game in charge.

And it is the need to stay strong in the top flight that drives Campbell’s belief in giving everyone a chance.

He said: “There are few lads who haven’t played who have been brilliant for us, so hopefully we can rotate the squad a bit and they can get some minutes they deserve.

“This league is incredible – all the games are must-win. Leicester [who visit Palace on Saturday] will be on a high after beating Man United 5-3 at home so it will be tough for us next weekend, even after beating Everton.”
