Hampton & Richmond Borough boss Alan Dowson has promised a mass clear out at the Beveree to abolish the stench of failure at the club.

The Beavers crashed 3-0 at Met Police on Tuesday night to take the wind out of the sails of a club that attracted more than 800 fans to the Beveree at the weekend for a 2-1 triumph over rock bottom VCD Athletic.

Goals from Bradley Hudson-Odoi, Ryan James and Michael Charles accounted for Hampton in the Ryman Premier League at Imber Court – a week after a 2-1 win for Hampton over the same team at the same venue in the Robert Dyas League Cup.

And Dowson, whose men travel to Bognor Regis Town on Saturday before hosting Grays Athletic in the FA Trophy on November 1, will make his feelings known with a host of players set to be shown the door.

The former Kingstonian boss has not had much chance to shape his own squad with the Beavers playing every Saturday and Tuesday since he took on the job in the wake of Paul Barry and Darren Powell’s resignation.

But with a two week break from action on the horizon the manager will make the most of the opportunity to rebuild a club he believes is on a downward spiral.

“We are all over the shop. There is a defeatist attitude in the dressing room and the whole club stinks of it,” he said.

“When you are nine games in as a new manager you are looking for people to impress you.

“I’m not saying everyone else has been terrible, but Saheed Sankoh and Moussa Diarra have been the only two in a team of 11 to have impressed me. That is not very many people.

“This has been going on for years. There has been relegation from the Conference South, we’ve finished in he bottom half of the Ryman Premier and we’re a bottom of the table team now.

“I’ll not lose anything by throwing the kids in because I’ve then got eight or nine days – which I haven’t had before – to sort out a team.

“There will be a lot of comings and goings. I wish the players who leave all the best, but I’ll be ringing the changes.

“I'm at the end of my tether now. If I have to play the kids at the weekend I will.

“We have done unbelievably well to get five wins and a draw since I’ve been in charge, but I took on a relegation scrap and we are still in one.

“People say I do all this stuff for charity, but they will see a different side to me now.”

Midfielder Karle Carder started the exodus on Wednesday when Dowson announced he was free to find another club having slipped down the pecking order at the Beveree.

He said: "It's never easy but we wish Karle the very best for the future. I'm sure it won't be long until he finds another club.

"As always we are looking to keep improving and our midfield is a position we need to look at."

Chairman Steve McPherson added: "We would like to place on record our thanks to Karle and, like all former players, he is more than welcome any time at the Beveree."
