After Saturday's goalless draw at Wigan on Saturday Brentford drew another blank as they fought out a 0-0 draw with Sheffield Wednesday at Griffin Park on Tuesday night.

In a match celebrating the club's 125th anniversary the Bees found the back of the net once, only to see it ruled out for offside. While their visitors could consider themselves unlucky after hitting the woodwork twice.

The home side looked to have scored early on after a lovely piece of skill by Jota saw him deliver a cross from wide on the left to the back post where Andre Gray raced in to stab the ball home, but was adjudged to have been offside.

Later Gray almost raced onto a ball through the middle, but the defender nipped in to steer it back to Kieran Westwood.

For the visitors Stevie May's shot from 20 yards had David Button at full stretch to push it away.

May came even closer when his volley hit the post shortly after.

Jeremy Helan then produced a good run down the left, but Button held his cross at the near post.

A quick break by Jota saw him release Alan Judge, but he fired over from 30 yards.

Early on in the second half Alan McCormack conceded a free kick just outside the box, and Chris Maguire’s fierce strike was pushed away by Button.

The closest the Bees came was when Jonathan Douglas saw his header cleared off the line.

In added on time a terrific cross was whipped in from the right by McCormack but substitute Nick Proschwitz just failed to connect at the back post.

Wednesday also continued to press and Royston Drenthe produced a dangerous free kick from the right hand side of Brentford’s box, which was comfortably saved by Button.

Proschwitz had another chance when he connected with a Jon Toral cross but Westwood denied him again as Brentford settled for a share of the points.
