After Crystal Palace’s 1-1 draw with Stoke City, Yannick Bolasie was disappointed the Eagles could not settle quickly enough after their goal to hold on to earn victory at home.

Bolasie’s fine cross was perhaps the best move of the match, with James McArthur heading home, before Peter Crouch’s equaliser, but the Congolese was frustrated that the Eagles did not settle quickly enough after the opener.

The Eagles have still only won twice at home this season, and they are still hovering above the Premier League relegation zone by one point.

Bolasie said: “I’m pleased with an assist, but we didn’t win and at home I want to win and I’m sure we all want to win so we’re kind of disappointed that we let in a goal two minutes later because we know we are better than that.

“We didn’t get time to settle, if we had it would have been a different game.”

Marouane Chamakh pulled up late on with what appeared to be a thigh problem, and the forward was set for scans on Monday to determine the severity of the injury, with Bolasie knowing it will be a big blow for the team.

He added: “It’s definitely a big blow if he’s out for a while because Chamakh does well up front bringing other players into play and you can see from the stats he runs around a lot so it’s a big blow.”

With the in-form winger set to depart to the African Cup of Nations in January, he may miss the FA Cup tie at Dover, but admited he would be keen to play if he could; and with a second child on the way, it’s possible he will depart to Africa later than expected.

“I haven’t played non-League in ages, so it will be good, interesting to see how we do.”

Bolasie also revealed that he doesn’t need to teach tricks to the younger players, as they have their own.

“I talk to most of the youngsters, I get on with all of them really well, there are a lot of good ones coming through," he said.

"The likes of Mandela Egbo, Sullay KaiKai and Jerome Binnom-Williams are out on loan so the future is really healthy and I looked at some of the first year scholars, Corie Andrews and Andre Coker, there are some good players."
